The Chinese association held their annual 70th anniversary celebration of victory of China’s Anti-Japanese Aggression War during WWII on Saturday in China Mall, Johannesburg. The event was graced with the presence of the first lady of South Africa Mrs Bongekile Zuma who happens to be close with the Chinese Associations.
Mr Lee opened up by thanking everyone for coming and celebrating with them.
He emphasized how “history can be forgiven but we must not forget” and mentioned how China has become an influential country economically.
The exhibition show cased the journey of the Chinese people and how they eventually won. It showed how they gained support from Chinese civilians who stayed in many different countries like New Zealand, Britain and USA.
It also showed the key people in the struggle and the females who played a huge role in their liberation.
Ngema-Zuma also had a speech prepared where she thanked the Chinese association for inviting her. “Our partnership makes it possible to uplift each other in our endeavours. As Brics partners we need to stand together” she said. After she was shown around and saw the journey of the Chinese in their liberation she was “very impressed by the exhibition the role that woman played especially for me, the revelation in this month of August where we celebrate the contribution of our woman to our struggle…so I saw that all over the world woman gathered and contributed where some sold flowers” to raise funds for the Chinese army. 
Chairman of the Chinese CPF Mr NG and his members were also present. Consular generals from the Johannesburg office also had members present.
