Zuma unveils school in Madiba’s Mvezo village


President Jacob Zuma unveiled a new school in Mvezo as a tribute to the former president Nelson Mandela’s birthplace.

Jacob Zuma urged the Mvezo children to use education as a way to get out of poverty. The Makgatho Lewanika Mandela Primary School costed R30 million and was unveiled by the president and Mandela’s grandson, Mandla Mandela.


The Zhou Guang Zhao Foundation donated R3 million to the project. Consular Hu from the Chinese Embassy and Consular Zhang Yong from the General Consular office of Cape Town were in full of backing of the project.

The Chairman of the Chinese CPF in Eastern Cape Mr Lin XiaLin and his members attended the event.
