Friday the 16th October 2015 suspects attempted a heist posing as a delivery van thus gaining entry onto the premises. They proceeded towards the unit they were targeting and attacked the occupants gaining what they wanted.
On their escape Lions Gate Security were alerted and then went into pursuit of the 6 suspects. The chase went off the the premises where a second vehicle ambushed the security officers and opened fire upon them, the security not knowing at the time they were linked to the suspects.
In the aftermath of the shootout one of Lions Gate Security officers had lost his life and another sustained substantial injuries. Thankfully two security officers escaped unharmed.
The security had gone far beyond their duties and responsibilities but a life was lost. It is a huge loss to the company and his family, one they never expected.
Lions Gate Security services mourn the loss of a good man, he will surely be missed and remembered for his dedication by the entire team, his wife and child.
Warehouse management are going to follow up the case. The Lions Gate Security and tenants are arranging donations to give to the family.
Meanwhile on the 14th October 2015 the very same suspects attempted a heist at one of the warehouses guarded by Lions Gate Security services, in Amalgam, West of Johannesburg. The attempted robbery proved unsuccessful due to the diligence and professionalism of Lions Gate staff.
