On August 26th, Deputy President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa met with Governor of China Guangdong Province Zhu Xiaodan. Ambassador Tian Xuejun and Deputy Director General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Anil Sooklal attended the meeting.
Deputy President Ramaphosa welcomed the delegation to SA on behalf of the SA government. He said South Africa is willing to further promote bilateral friendly cooperation under the framework of China-SA comprehensive strategic partnership as well as BRICS, and through bilateral cooperation, bring more benefits to the two peoples.
Governor Zhu Xiaodan conveyed the sincere greetings from Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao to Deputy President Ramaphosa. He said this visit aims to cement friendly exchanges and cooperation between China-SA provinces and municipalities. Guangdong Province enjoys close economic and trade ties with South Africa.
The bilateral cooperation on investment and tourism is gaining momentum. By establishing sister province relationship with KwaZulu-Natal and convening China (Guangdong)-SA Business Conference, Guangdong stands ready to advance all-round practical cooperation featuring mutual benefits between the two provinces and the two countries.
Governor Zhu Xiaodan also invited SA to co-host the 14th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair next year. Deputy President Ramaphosa accepted the invitation on behalf of SA.
