AU Commissioner – China plays significant role in Africa

China plays a significant role in the development of mega infrastructure and energy projects across Africa said Elham Mahmood Ibrahim, the AU Commissioner for infrastructure and energy said at a press briefing on the sidelines of the recent AU summit in Addis Ababa.

“It is clear China is playing a major role in the development of modern infrastructure in Africa.The Chinese firms have been implementing infrastructure projects efficiently and on time, ” Mahmood Ibrahim remarked, “China is well placed to lend technical and financial support to help African countries upgrade their transport infrastructure. We look forward to fruitful cooperation with China in infrastructure and renewable energy development in line with pledges made at the FOCAC summit.

She emphasized that China has massive expertise in renewable energy, and it is a leading manufacturer of solar equipment and it could play a vital role in helping Africa realize the green agenda.
