Visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao said on Tuesday that the current China-South Africa relationship has entered its historically best period.
Li made the remarks when he met here with Solly Mapaila, second deputy general secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP).
Li said that the Communist Party of China (CPC) attaches great importance to the friendly relations with the SACP and the exchanges between the two parties have been fruitful.
He also expressed gratitude for the SACP’s long-term support for China on issues concerning the latter’s core interests and major concerns.
He hoped that the CPC and the SACP will continue to expand exchanges and cooperation, learn from each other, and better serve the development of the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership.
Mapaila said that the South Africa-China relations are both special and friendly, and the SACP is satisfied with the development of the bilateral ties.
The SACP is willing to enhance high-level exchanges with the CPC, deepen exchanges over experiences of Party and state governance, and learn from the CPC’s successful experience, Mapaila said.
Mapaila added the SACP stands ready to promote practical party-to-party cooperation so as to advance the relations between the two countries.
Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao also met with South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier in Cape Town.
