Federation of Chinese women across Africa were invited to attend Nepal earthquake charity donations
On the 14th of May 2015, the Federation of Nepal SA hosted a fundraising event for the earthquake which took place in Nepal April 2015. The fundraising event was held in one of Johannesburg Indian restaurant (Thava) in Midrand where amongst the 100 individuals who attended the were; the Chinese Women All Africa news Federation, Nepal’s ambassador SA Amrit Bahadur Rai, Consul General of India in Johannesburg Randhir Jaiswal, and Chairman of the South African Chefs Association Phillipe Frydman.
Mr Metthew from, Thava Group Indian Restaurant, spoke about when the earthquake occurred and how much of a tragedy it was for the country. He extended his concerns and supports for the people of Nepal hence the necessity to host the fundraising event to support them in rebuilding and rescuing people within the country.
Zhu Yiyuan president also expressed his sympathy and condolences towards Nepal and how honoured he was to be invited to the event. During the post-earthquake time, Zhu Yiyuan president has vowed to assist Nepal in rebuilding and rescuing its citizens. He alsospoke about the good relation China and Nepal have; he mentioned that Nepal is China’s friendly collar ancient state. On behalf of the Chinese women throughout Africa Federation, Zhu Yiyuan donated R10 000.
During the event they managed to raise R235 000, which will be donated to the Nepal Embassy in SA. The fund will go towards the disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction. Mr. Amrit Bahadur Rai the ambassador of Nepal SA, he extended his gratitude to the hosts of the event and the attendees especially the various federations which were present on the day.
