Do you Know: South Africa is now the sixth-largest wine exporter to China！
According to the statistics from South African Wine Industry Information and Systems, SA’s wine export to China rose by almost 30% in 2015. A demand that’s driven by young Chinese professionals who prefer red and the strong whites like chardonnay.
The wine data analytics firm, IWSR forecast consumption of about 13.5-million hectolitres in 2020, a jump from 11.3-million in 2010. This proves there are huge demands and the market for it. Hence a high delegation from the Western Cape Government, led by the Premier Helen Zille and Economic Opportunities Minister Alan Winde have officially visited the Asian state to promote the province’s wine offering.
Due to the wine export increase, South Africa is now the sixth-largest wine exporter to China. Although South African wines are still new on the Chinese market, Chinese people are happy to explore and trial locally produced wines.
