The NFonline team were invited to follow the Free State Fujian Overseas Chinese Association for their 2016 Nelson Mandela Day Donation Ceremony at the Kamohelo Centre for Disabled Children in Sasolburg.
The event was spearheaded by Mr Jimmy Shi, Chairman of the Free State Fujian Overseas Chinese Association and Mr Yang Peidong, Consulate General of China. Upon arrival at the Kamohelo Centre for Disabled Children Mrs Maletsatsi Tshabangu welcomed us all warmly and invited us on a tour of the centre.
Mrs Tshabangu took us to the various areas where the children were cared for in the centre. She explained the various disabilities which her students have and how all the donations will assist them to care for the children. We came to understand that not all of the disabled children from the community can be cared for at the centre because of the strict regulations prohibiting over-crowding. The government has set a limit which the Kamohelo Centre has already exceeded, they now have special permission from the government to take in a few extra children.
After the tour, the Free State Fujian Overseas Chinese Association members unpacked all the parcels which were donated to the Kamohelo Centre for Disabled Children. This brought many smiles to staff members and children. Mrs Maletsatsi Tshabangu thanked the Free State Fujian Overseas Chinese Association for all their help.
