Namibia to receive visit from Chinese Foreign Minister

Wang’s visit to Namibia is aimed at fostering discussions on the development and cooperation plans between China and Africa, particularly on how to implement the outcome of the Forum on China and Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit held in Johannesburg in December last year.

“It has become a tradition for the Chinese Foreign Minister to first visit Africa every year, which fully reflects the importance that is attached by the Chinese government to Africa – we are forever friends, brothers and partners,” said the ambassador.

The action plan of FOCAC Johannesburg Summit, bilateral relations and global and regional hot issues of common concern will be among the topics up for discussions in meetings between Wang and Namibian officials, Xin said.

“The visit and plans will help further translate China-Africa traditional friendship into impetus for mutually beneficial cooperation and help turn Africa’s natural and human resources into strengths facilitating economic development as early as possible,” said Xin.

Namibia will be the last leg of the Chinese Foreign Minister’s four-nation visit in Africa. He has since Jan. 31 visited Malawi, Mauritius, and Mozambique.

During the FOCAC summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that China will roll out ten major plans to boost cooperation with Africa over the next three years in areas including industrialization, agricultural modernization and infrastructure. Enditem
