In celebration of CANSA month, the Chinese Association for Women hosted their inaugural charity walk event in order to give empowerment and hope to those living with CANCER and underprivileged.
In relevance, CANSA’s main purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa. Its mission is to be the preferred non-profit organization that enables research, educates the public and provides support to all people affected by cancer.
On the 31st of July 2016 the Chinese Association for Women hosted their walk for CANSA at the St. Benedict’s School in raising cancer awareness. The Chinese Association for Women Foundation knitted about 180 blankets throughout the year to give out at the event. The association donated blankets and money to assist the victims of CANCER with what they genuinely needed, in essence it was a jubilant day to both the kids and the ladies as smiles beamed on their face.
The donation took course at the Kong Sing restaurant in Bedfordview Centre where lunch was set up for everyone to feed their cravings. We also witnessed the donated blankets being given to Doors of Hope Children’s Home and an additional of 100 fleecy blankets were purchased with a special message for this charity.
